Design of Experiments

Module Title Design of Experiments
Module Level Level 2
Module Credits 2.50

Aims and Fit of Module

Design of experiments is a core statistical and mathematical methodology to perform the experiments in a systematic way and analyze the data obtained from the process to evaluate the relationship between factors affecting the process and the output of that process.

The aim of this module is to provide students an opportunity to gain sufficient theoretical knowledge on design of experiments and adequate statistical skills related to this topic.

Learning outcomes

A	Understand the principles and gain knowledge about techniques of design of experiments
B	Acquire a good knowledge on various forms of statistical designs
C	Acknowledge common topics and issues related to design of experiments
D	Gain sound statistical principles and techniques to design and analyze an experiment

Method of teaching and learning

The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials over a period of 13 weeks. In lectures, students are introduced to the core concepts, major types, and common topics and issues related to design of experiments. Sound statistical principles and techniques for designing and analyzing an experiment are emphasized. Tutorials are given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
