Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to address the characterization of drugs and drug-like molecules, computer-assisted drug design, drug analysis, molecular biology, pharmacology of drugs and drug research and development.

Learning outcomes

A	Demonstrate a critical awareness and understanding of the latest advances in biotechnological methods for drug development
B	Describe the various stages involved in the development of a drug
C	Evaluate the techniques for discovering molecules with desired biological activity
D	Appraise the approaches for optimizing a molecule into a safe and effective drug
E	Apply, critically evaluate and interpret the knowledge and understanding gained to solve complex problems in medicinal chemistry
F	Measure the activity of enzymes and receptors
