Survival Analyses

Module Title Survival Analyses
Module Level Level 4
Module Credits 5.00

Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to introduce basic concepts and various methods of survival analysis, including modelling time-to-event data, non-parametric, semi-parametric and parametric models. SAS will be used in this module to analyze the survival data.

Learning outcomes

A.	Summarize the characteristics of survival data and different types of censorings.
B.	Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of non-parametric model.
C.	Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the assumptions for different survival models (parametric, semi-parametric or non-parametric methods), and be able to apply the proper method in analyzing time-to-event data.
D.	Perform survival analysis using a statistical software, and be able to interpret the result.

Method of teaching and learning

The module is delivered through a combination of lectures and tutorials over a period of 13 weeks. In lectures, students are introduced to the core principles, major methodology, and common topics and issues in the area of survival analysis. Tutorials are given as a platform to address any specific question or issue from individual students.
