Aims and Fit of Module
This module is an introduction to Game Design. It offers students a practical, theoretical, and critical approach to game design that will enable them to understand the processes of video game creation in the context of its history, and create their own demo.
Learning outcomes
A. Demonstrate an understanding of game design phases and processes.
B. Demonstrate a practical knowledge of game design software through applied practice.
Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions are divided into four components (Lectures, labs, tutorials and private study).
Lectures will focus on game design techniques and basic craft rules.
An intensive series of labs will equip the students with the technical skills and understanding of game design and game design software.
Tutorial sessions are designed to guide and support students as they develop, refine and complete their game projects.
