Aims and Fit of Module
This module aims to help students understand the regionally diverse and dynamic business environment of China through consideration of the social and institutional variables in the context of informatization technologies.

Learning outcomes
A. Identify the main corporate institutions that shape the business environment in China.
B. Compare and contrast the different local ‘business models’ in China.
C. Demonstrate understanding of the business environment in China as a dynamic, informatized and hybrid sector that combines labour-intensive manufacturing with knowledge-based innovation.
D. Analyse case studies of foreign companies from different industries that have entered the Chinese market.
E. Analyse and discuss the ways in which different kinds of sources treat information.
F. Identify potential cross-cultural challenges in managing businesses in China and relevant strategies that effectively address these challenges.
