Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to enable students to use Eurocodes for advanced foundation designs.

Learning outcomes

A	Apply principles of shallow foundation design and construction including pads and strips.

B	Apply principles of pile foundation design and construction.

C	Analyse and design pile caps using the strut and tie model

D	Compare foundation types and/or validate the results by hand calculations and/or software.

The module is taught through formal lectures and class tutorials.
