Aims and Fit of Module

This module introduces students to the history and study of global media industries. It will provide them with the basic critical concepts to analyse the legal, technological, economic, organisational, and labour aspects of key media industries and to examine their development in interrelated global and national contexts. It will prepare students for the continued study of commercial media in later modules. The reading quizzes aim to develop students’ reading comprehension and understanding of academic discourse. The case study aims to develop students’ research and writing skills.
