Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to introduce students to the nature and processes of quantitative research. It will teach them how to generate, refine and test hypotheses and it will equip them with an understanding of the logic of statistical inference. The students will be expected to question their data for validity and reliability. The module will expose students to a variety of quantitative research techniques and train them to critically evaluate research articles using quantitative methods. Finally, it will prepare them to design and conduct their own quantitative research project. This module, together with Qualitative Research Methods, serves as the research skills foundation for the Final Year Project.
