Aims and Fit of Module
This module aims to:
1. Develop a critical understanding of project management and its principles in a technological project environment as well as the strategies to achieve a successful project outcome.
2. Acquire a good knowledge in a number of areas, i.e. scope, time, cost, integration, risk, quality, communication, procurement, stakeholder, human resources, with a special focus on the scope, time, cost, and quality management-related issues in detail.
3. Develop skills in the use of various contemporary processes, tools, techniques and methodologies as applied in a project management context.
4. Learn how to plan, implement and control a technological project through to its successful delivery.
Learning outcomes
A. Demonstrate a critical understanding of project management and its processes in technological projects.
B. Articulate an appropriate approach to managing a project within a variety of complex and challenging scenarios by using contemporary project management tools and techniques.
C Critically evaluate alternative project management strategies in a given context and justify an appropriate option to apply.
D Devise a robust and well-argued risk management strategy which can be deployed within a project, in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
E Devise a strategy for the effective application of contemporary project management tools.
F. Understand and participate in the legal, social, ethical and professional framework in systems, software or information engineering.
G. Work as a member of a development team recognising the different roles within a team and different ways of organising teams
