Aims and Fit of Module
The aims of this module are to:
1. Build students’ critical understanding of educational leadership, management, organisational development, and change in diverse educational contexts.
2. Develop students’ understanding of how educational management, administration and leadership can support educational innovation and improvement in international and intercultural settings.
3. Examine the influence of culture, policy, institutional conditions, and stakeholder relationships on management and leadership practice and organisational change in global education by using relevant technology (including AI).
4. Develop students’ capacity to address authentic leadership and management challenges through practice-oriented and project-based learning.
5. Introduce students to the critical, ethical, and strategic use of digital and AI-enabled tools for leadership inquiry, communication, decision-making, collaboration, and project management.
Learning outcomes
A. Critically analyse key theories, models, and debates in educational leadership, management, organisational learning, and innovation in diverse local and global contexts.
B. Evaluate how culture, policy, institutional conditions, and stakeholder relationships shape leadership and management practice, communication, collaboration, and change in international and intercultural educational settings by using relevant technology (including AI).
C. Apply relevant theories of leadership, management, and change to authentic educational cases in order to propose feasible, evidence-informed strategies for improvement, innovation, and organisational development.
D. Collaboratively plan, manage, and evaluate a practice-based leadership or innovation project for real-world contexts, demonstrating reflective judgement, professional communication, and attention to implementation.
E. Use digital and AI-enabled tools critically, ethically, and strategically to support leadership inquiry, decision-making, communication, collaboration, and project management in educational settings.
Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions consist of weekly seminars that utilise Research Led Project Based Learning approaches and integration of technology (including AI) where appropriate, in order to support the development of students’ foundational competence for Global Education from the perspective of leadership. Seminars will involve a combination of taught component, interactive sessions and group work. Technology (including AI) will support generation and refinement of ideas, as well as augment peer feedback and dialogue.
