Aims and Fit of Module
By taking a socioecological approach, this module will examine the theories and principles in the field of family education. Students will be engaged with different parenting theories and practices, particularly in relation to recent changes that could be reflected in Chinese and British society. Attention will also be given to the potential risks and resilience factors nested within families of different characteristics and with children of different developmental stages. This module will deepen students’ understanding of the important role played by family in childhood education.

Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: lectures and tutorials/workshops. The tutorials/workshops will build on the materials covered in the lectures.
