Aims and Fit of Module
This module aims to:
• Build a foundational knowledge of organizational theories and key concepts related to administration and organization in higher education.
• Foster appreciation for the key roles and functions of higher education organizations from a global perspective.
• Develop the ability to analyze and synthesize literature on higher education organization and administration issues and challenges, and articulate them in a succinct and professional manner.
• Develop research capacities to deepen understanding of the complexities of higher education administration and organization.
Learning outcomes
A. Explain the key concepts and theories in higher education administration and organization.
B. Demonstrate a critical understanding of higher education organizational functions, governance and administrative roles.
C. Assess the changes and challenges in higher education leadership, administration and organization from a global perspective.
D. Apply theory to research in practical university administrative and organizational settings.
Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: lectures and tutorials/workshops. The tutorials/workshops will build on the material covered in the lectures.
