Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this module is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the core theoretical aspects (and related empirical evidence) of Business Finance. It also provides students with the necessary skills to apply Business Finance approaches to real-world problems

Learning outcomes

A. Critically evaluate and apply a range of hedging instruments and techniques to mitigate investment risk in volatile markets.

B. Analyse and justify the key strategic financial decisions facing corporate managers, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of contemporary corporate finance theory.

C. Analyse the implications of liquidity for asset prices and corporate policies, and vice versa.

Method of teaching and learning

Lectures provide the essential theoretical foundations, empirical evidence, and contemporary market frameworks for hedging instruments, corporate finance theory, and liquidity dynamics equipping students with the conceptual tools needed for critical analysis. Tutorials then transition students from passive learning to active application through problem-based exercises
