Aims and Fit of Module
This module is designed to allow the student to:
Develop and create a well-designed project to take to industry or to take with them while applying for a post graduate programme
Develop ideas for a screenplay within agreed constraints
Apply writing skills to produce an initial outline and first draft treatment/script
Develop a capacity to identify content issues and implement solutions to project ideas
Develop a capacity to work with development notes within the redrafting of an idea and to manage the notes and implement them during the writing process
Writing and re-drafting a project outline/treatment/script
Manage time and relationship with both a script and commissioning editor
Learning outcomes
A Create an original script/programme idea for an identified commissioning opportunity
B Critically inform practice by placing it in a historical, social and conceptual framework
C Develop a project proposal to professional standards
Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions are divided into two components (Seminars and tutorials). Seminars will focus on ideas sharing and development notes.
Tutorials will focus on story shape, overall emotional substance, engagement and emotional pay-off. These will form a substantial part of a project proposal to industry.
