Aims and Fit of Module

Aims:
This module takes the research proposal developed in FTA429 forward to execution stage. It commences at the beginning of the final semester and allows students to further develop and conclude the research in the form of a completed content producing project.

Objectives:
Students can undertake an independent research project. The project topics should be related to the content producing pathway; students will primarily utilise the subject knowledge covered in the learning, along with disciplinary aspects. Each student will work with a member of academic staff as the project supervisor. In addition to the distribution project, students will also complete a final report that documents its development process and reflects on its potential further development. This report will be submitted as the dissertation required by the masters.

Learning outcomes

A Critically apply research methods and appropriate tools on a research project
B Demonstrate critical awareness in understanding project ideas contributing to the research and practical aspects of content production
C Demonstrate autonomous project management skills and professionally organise all project elements within an agreed timescale
D Critically evaluate the research results within appropriate theoretical and practical contexts

Method of teaching and learning

The module incorporates research-driven and self-learning methods with the supervision support. Students will work independently and be supervised by an experienced academic staff throughout the project process. They will demonstrate the progress of their work through lectures, tutorials and labs.
