Supply Chain Digitalization

Module Title Supply Chain Digitalization
Module Level Level 3
Module Credits 5.00

Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of the module is to provides the necessary concepts and techniques in the design and implementation of digital supply chains from a managerial point of view.
The module offers students an overview of key building blocks such as digital twins, blockchain, IoT and artificial intelligence that drive the transformation of traditional supply chains into digital supply chains. Students will gain knowledge and skills in designing, planning, and execution of processes in managing digital supply chains. They are also exposed to how digital supply chain related strategic, tactical, and operational decisions are made by studying real-world cases. Finally, students will learn simulation/analytical/modeling tools toward specific topics.

Learning outcomes

A	identify different digital technologies in shaping different supply chains to achieve specific business goals
B	use simulation/analytical/mathematical tools for critical evaluation of various digital technologies in supporting digital supply chain operation
C	evaluate business cases to demonstrate the effectiveness of digital technologies in managing digital supply chains.
D	use software to visualize supply chain systems and to diagnose practical supply chains

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching philosophy of the module follows very much the philosophy of Syntegrative Education. This has meant that the teaching delivery pattern, which follows more intensive block teaching, allows more meaningful contribution from industry partners. This philosophy is carried through also in terms of assessment, with reduction on the use of exams and increase in coursework, especially problem-based assessments that are project focused. The delivery pattern provides space in the semester for students to concentrate on completing the assessments.

The module is delivered through series of lectures, seminars, labs, and tutorials. Lectures are to teach the basic concepts and theories. Seminars are used to teach students technical tools or to conduct case studies. Labs are used to practice software that visualizes a supply chain and to make management decisions. Tutorial is to assist the students with the course assignment.
