Aims and Fit of Module
This module introduces students to a practice-based, hands-on approach to visual communication design. Students will learn the concepts, theories, aesthetics and skills of visual communication, covering the advanced level of product drawing, UI/UX design foundations, UI design graphics, UI motion and animation design. Emphasis will be placed on the ability to conceive new and innovative solutions for specified communication issues. Hand drawing, vector/raster graphics and motion and animation software will be introduced for accomplishing visual communication tasks. Through hands-on practice, students will learn to apply theories into practice and to become creative and effective communicators. Relevant project works and global case studies will also be presented and discussed.

A. Visually organise text and images to tell a story and to describe a concept.
B. Demonstrate understanding of and apply basic design principles in design proposals.
C. Apply a combination of hand and digital communication techniques to develop a realistic looking visualisation.
D. Complete a product drawing which details form, colour, materials and technical characteristics.
Method of teaching and learning
This module is delivered through lectures, demonstrations, guided and independent practices. Students will work in groups and individually on exercises and assignments to help them developing specific visual communication skills.
