Aims and Fit of Module
The module aims to introduce design students to the fundamental knowledge and practices of human-computer-interaction (HCI) in contemporary computing systems and mobile devices.
Learning outcomes
A Identify the various aspects when designing human-computer-interfaces for people
B Interpret and translate design requirements from user scenarios and use cases
C Apply basic formal methods and techniques for interaction design
D Verify the usability of interactive systems
Method of teaching and learning
Lectures will introduce students to the academic content and practical skills which are the subject of the module, while computer practicals will allow students to practice those skills. In addition, students will be expected to devote approximately 13 hours of unsupervised time to work in the computer lab and for private study. Time in the computer lab will be devoted to work on assignments. Private study will provide time for reflection and consideration of lecture material and background reading. Continuous assessment will be used to assess a student progress in the module.
