Aims and Fit of Module

•	To develop good understanding of information systems and information technology infrastructure in business environment.
• To introduce key system applications for the digital age and the information systems management in global business today.

Learning outcomes

A. Understand the role of information systems (IS) in global business today, IS infrastructure, and the dynamic interaction between IS and organisations.

B. Understand the core enterprise applications of IS and discuss its key business applications.

C. Demonstrate awareness of ethical and social issues caused by IS.

D. Demonstrate the practical skills (e.g., group work, oral and written communication, use of multiple sources) in decision-making situations.

Method of teaching and learning

This module is going to be delivered mainly via a two-hour lecture and a one-hour tutorial per week. Module materials and assessment requirements will be available online for students’ access. In addition, students will be expected to devote unsupervised time to background reading, assessment tasks and private study.
