Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this module is to provide IMBA students with a deep knowledge and understanding of how to apply advanced mathematical and statistical techniques and tools for the strategic business analysis and decision-making process of an organization.
This module explores the different methods used to collect and analyse quantitative data from a business perspective.
The goal is therefore to enable students to understand how effective and appropriate quantitative data analysis can enhance the quality of managerial decision-making.

Learning outcomes

A Demonstrate a systematic understanding and knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and tools used in management practice.
B Demonstrate ability in the application of advanced mathematical and statistical techniques and tools to the strategic business analysis and decision-making process of an organization.
C Demonstrate a conceptual understanding of how to evaluate quantitative methodologies and develop critiques of them and, where appropriate, propose new practices.

Method of teaching and learning

The learning and teaching takes a case-based and peer-assisted learning approach. Students are expected to familiarise themselves with the basic theory and to read and review the case studies prior to the weekend face to face sessions. Students are encouraged to read widely with reference to the reading lists provided.
