Aims and Fit of Module
This module aims to introduce students to fundamental methods in which language can be described and analysed. We will examine the structure of language in reference to morphology and syntax. The key aim is to show how structure builds from the word to the sentence level. Students will then apply these concepts to related issues in language. The module is a sister module to Introduction to Linguistics: Spoken and Written Discourse and serves as a foundation for students on the LNG pathway.
