Aims and Fit of Module

This course integrates teaching theories, practices and research in the field of AI for language education.
The main aims of the optional module are: 
• To acquaint students with fundamental concepts, principles, research and theories of using Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in language teaching and learning 
• To develop an awareness of innovation in the use of emerging AI in language teaching and learning
• To develop students’ skills and advanced knowledge to use a range of AI technologies in language teaching and assessment
•To develop students’ skills in critical evaluation of the potential and AI application in practice 

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this module, students should be able to: 
A. Demostrate understanding of the impact of Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies on language education
•	B. Demostrate understanding of understand technology theoretical approaches, materials and tools
C. Create practical tasks and learning activities in using a range of AI tools for language teaching
D. Critically analyze and discuss research into AI technology and language teaching and learning

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are divided into two components: lectures and tutorials/seminars.
