Aims and Fit of Module
To provide the basic knowledge and skills to design, build and operate industrial robotic systems, and to understand the advantages and disadvantages of their deployment.
Learning outcomes
A. understand key principles, system components and applications in industrial robotic and electro-mechanical systems
B. choose appropriate robot components for given applications and explain the reasons for that choice.
C. demonstrate understanding of robot programming languages and software development methods.
D. have hands-on skills to develop robot cell and related mechatronic systems to achieve specific objectives.
Method of teaching and learning
This module will be delivered through a combination of formal lectures and supervised laboratory sessions. There are totally four coursework that will be assigned across the semester.
Assignment 1&2 would test students on the knowledge of Robot and System Integration; and Assignment 3&4 would focus on Industrial Application.
