Aims and Fit of Module

To provide a basic understanding of the principles of Classical Mechanics and their application to simple dynamical systems.

Learning outcomes

A. Particles and particle systems.

B. Fixed axis rotations.

C. Rigid bodies (including geophysical applications such as the precession of the axis of rotation of the earth).

D. The two-body problem (the motion of planets, comets, and satellites).
