Aims and Fit of Module

This module equips business students with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and evaluate the internal and external business environment that influence the strategic decisions made by business organizations. The module is designed to support the analysis of the operation of business organizations within national and international markets.

Learning outcomes

A. Explain the size and the scope of the firm including growth strategies; B. Apply the tools and concepts in the subject of economics to analyse the behaviour of firms; C. Explain the influence of internal organization on firm behaviour and performance.

Method of teaching and learning

The module will be delivered via a combination of lectures and tutorials. Lectures will be held in each week, which will be designed to provide essential information and introduce students to the basic tools of analysis. 
 Tutorials will provide student learning opportunities to consolidate and extend the material introduced in the lectures through the in-depth analysis of specific problems faced by firms in conduct of their business.
