Aims and Fit of Module
This module focuses on the challenges of leading change and innovation in the increasingly uncertain, complex and dynamic business environments that we face today.
Key issues include leadership and followership, as well as organisational culture, and how to stimulate learning and creativity in organisations. The issues of intrapreneurship/entrepreneurship in organisations are also covered.
The module will therefore integrate learnings from other modules on the IMBA programmes, while still bringing unique material about change management and innovative behaviour that creates added value in organisations.
Learning outcomes
A. Enable students to acquire knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of managing strategic change.
B. Understand the resistance faced in an organisation when leading and managing change, and remedies to the resistance.
C. Identify the opportunities and challenges presented by innovation, creativity, intrapreneurship and entrepreneurship.
D. Demonstrate the importance of organisational learning to overall development and change.
E. Outline the factors that influence the adoption of change, including the role of leadership and personal transformation in enabling wider change.
Method of teaching and learning
The learning strategy that underpins the above learning outcomes is founded on a series of pedagogical principles that promote the integration of theory and practice, the importance of critical thinking, prudence and practical judgement and effective and efficient action. A variety of teaching and learning techniques that will be employed in the delivery of the course, including guest speakers, intensive tuition and case analysis.
