Aims and Fit of Module
This module introduces the key concepts and practices in legal translation to students and develops their knowledge, skills and techniques in tackling problems arising in the legal translation process. It teaches students how to analyse and translate various types of legal texts and encourage them to reflect critically upon their own translation practices. The new directions and professional prospects of legal translation are also discussed.

Method of teaching and learning
The teaching sessions are divided into two components: lectures and workshops. Lectures provide students with concepts, principles and subject area knowledge related to legal translation; workshops are conducted for students to carry out group discussions, case study analysis and simulate working environments of legal translators. The module will also involve private study and research. Active participation is essential in both forms of teaching.
