The module seeks to provide a varied learning experience with an emphasis on both knowledge and skills development. It combines lectures, case studies, field trips, practical exercises and tutorials. By exposing students to both issues/debates and techniques/methods in environmental planning and management, the module seeks to help students understand the complexities of environmental issues as well as the diversities in environmental planning and management approaches in the real world. Special attention will be paid to particular social contexts and geographic scales in which certain environmental planning and management approaches are applied.
*Should the University decide to cancel or postpone the field trip due to unforeseen environmental and/or political circumstances, the Department will either plan an appropriate substitute activity to meet the intended learning outcomes of the trip or make necessary arrangements to organise the trip at a later time, as appropriate.
