Aims and Fit of Module

This Additional Learning Activity (ALA) aims to equip students with business analysis and software skills increasingly in demand from the part of recruiters in the audit, assurance and consulting services sector today. The course is divided into two parts: the first part covers topics related to practical cases in the use of data analytics and data mining technologies, while the second part focuses on data mining skills through the use of software-based analysis and case-studies.

Learning outcomes

A. Collect and share experiences of business (and government) organizations who have demonstrated success with applying data analytics technology to their performance, audit, risk, and compliance workflow
B. Inspire themselves through from experiences in the business community which apply data analytics advanced software in innovative, as well as return on investment generating ways
C. Integrate technology innovations (such as data analytics, computer forensics, etc) into the traditional financial and operational areas and build up end-to-end consulting solutions to address the clients' business needs
D. Learn how to develop positive working attitude, collaborative working style, and action focused approach to help organisations solve business problem
E. Efficiently and effectively apply data mining software to achieve analysis objectives, report findings, and build a narrative of organisational data
