Aims and Fit of Module

Introduction to Architecture and Visual Culture aims to awaken the students’ creative abilities, develop latent aptitudes and encourage their passion for architecture, through concentrating on three particular aspects: 
 Understanding to see: To introduce a new way of seeing and understanding creative activities through analogous experimentation based on modern and contemporary artists’ research;
 Understanding to do: To introduce and explore spatial relationships through various media;
 Understanding to communicate: To understand architecture not only about space and building but also about something that happens in it.

Learning outcomes

A Identify the cultural base of various artistic disciplines related to architecture. 
B Demonstrate a comprehension of the connections and transitions between various forms of visual media and representation related to architecture.
C Assess and evaluate various forms of visual communication.

Method of teaching and learning

 The module will be delivered in On-Line mode. 
 The module will be based on three types of activities: lecture, workshop, 
and tutorial. 
 Students train their skills, improve their competencies through practice during private studies, and conduct 
their studies and research. 
 Students will get feedback through a critical review of selected coursework. 
 Students will be given short exercises to solve progressively throughout the semester. 
 The final module assessment will combine these smaller components, reconfigured to produce a coherent whole. 
 Some sessions of this module will be taught by tutors from the Language Centre to assist students with the 
language/study skills requirements for the module. Students will also be provided with On-Line language/study 
skills support to help them engage with the module content.
