B Explore basic methods and techniques of representation within the design process.

C Express the broader context of architecture with related disciplines such as visual art.

Method of teaching and learning
The module starts with briefing and background lectures delivered by faculty members. It is structured as a design studio, in

which students will actively engage in a series of design thinking and articulation exercises in groups based on briefs and tutorial

advice provided by faculty members. Students are normally re-grouped for each exercise. Students regularly present results of

their group work to the larger module group. Students maintain individual "studio log" notebooks in which they record their

design thinking and articulation processes and results for ongoing tutorial and final assessment purposes.
In designing, the internal mind and the external world make impressions on one another. This module introduces students to this

process of mutual change. It addresses architectural sites and ways of perceiving, conceiving and expressing them in different

modalities including hand drawing, computer modelling and physical modelling.
