To develop from user requirements an introduction to design of passive environmental systems for buildings, their integration into building fabric and structural systems, and selection of appropriate equipment and materials
Learning outcomes 
A Demonstrate an understanding of the implications of architectural development for local and global environmental resources and vice versa.

B Exemplify bioclimatic design principles of medium to large size buildings for a variety of climatic regions.

C Demonstrate strategies for building services and an ability to integrate these within the precepts of sustainable building design.

Prediction of steady-state room temperature in rooms with glazing.

Time lag and decrement factor in lightweight and heavyweight buildings.

Lighting: electric light sources; lamps and luminaires.

Specification and environmental impact.

Innovative daylight systems

Passive climatic architectures- taxonomy of issues: heat stores,

air flow, environmental reservoirs, ventilation, shading, cooling,

daylighting methods, insulation, control systems, passive

design/strategic planning.
