The aims of this module are help students develop basic engineering skills, such as technical communication skills for both written and oral presentations; computing and programming skills using software; probability and statistic knowledge and problem solving skills; team work skills.

Learning outcomes 
A. Understand basic concepts of probability and statistics;

B. Acquire elementary programming skills using a scripting language;

C. Demonstrate oral and written technical communication skills by using MS Office software and reference management software;

D. Demonstrate awareness of health and safety issues and risks associated with experimental work;

E. Demonstrate team work skills.

Method of teaching and learning 
Interactive lectures, virtual laboratory experiments, software demonstrations, training tutorials, hands-on practice, Peer-to-Peer(P2P) discussion, P2P review and continuous assessments.
