Aims
This module equips students with the basic quantitative transferable skills required for level 1 Chemistry degree programme and general transferable skills with a focus on communication
Learning outcomes 
A perform simple calculations as required in analytical chemistry and physical chemistry

Syllabus 
• Calculations of yields, concentrations, dilutions

• Dimensional analysis, units interconversion

• Data and error analysis, accuracy, precision, significant figures, data distribution, variance, deviation, regression in statistical analysis, errors

• Integrals and derivatives for kinetics and thermodynamics

• Least squares fitting, finding the equation of a line

• Basic hazard symbols, retrieving information from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), writing properly Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) forms

• Chemical nomenclature

• Use of ChemDraw and other molecule editors

• Lab book and lab reports

• Presentation and discussion on a chemistry-related topic using PowerPoint
