Method of teaching and learning 
Lectures and seminars
• Mass spectroscopy: Introduction to the principles of the configuration of mass spectrometer; sample introduction and ionization; quadrupole analyzer and TOF analyser; fragmentation of organic ions; applications of mass spectroscopy- TOF and MALDI

• HPLC: Principles of analytical chromatography; the plate theory; partition coefficient; stationary phase; factors affecting the performance; column efficiency; retention parameter, resolution; HPLC instrumentation

• Hyphenated Techniques: GC-MS: GC-MS instrumentation, theory and operation; components of GC installation; stationary phase; compatibility

• Data Analysis:

• Data processing- data smoothing, data normalisation, regression (calibration curves),

• Data analysis- accuracy and errors, T- Test, Significance test, ANOVA analysis, dynamic range and limits of detection
