Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to help students with no prior Chinese knowledge to establish a solid foundation in their Chinese study, bringing their Chinese language proficiency to a level equivalent to CEFR A1.

Learning outcomes

A.	Be able to demonstrate understanding of simple words and phrases when spoken in the target language
B.	Be able to demonstrate recognition of familiar names, words, phrases and simple sentences in text format in the target language
C.	Be able to use the target language to deliver personal information and interact orally in a simple way
D.	Be able to use the target language to write about themselves and where they live, using short, simple phrases

Method of teaching and learning

Communicative language teaching involves a high level of interaction between teacher and students. Teaching and assessment will revolve around the setting and completion of specified language tasks. 

  
  
This module includes 3 seminar hours for 12 weeks. Students will have 64 hours of self-study to support their learnings.

In order to submit their coursework tasks, the students must attend at least 8 weeks of seminars hours out of the 12 total weeks.
