Aims and Fit of Module
This module aims to equip students linguistically and culturally to communicate successfully in Chinese, and help them to meet the requirements for CEFR higher B1- equivalence.
Learning outcomes
A Be able to demonstrate that they can follow clearly spoken, straightforward short talks on familiar topics in the target language
B Be able to demonstrate a general understanding of the main points in straightforward factual texts in the target language on subjects of personal or professional interest
C Be able to use the target language to give a short prepared presentation on a very familiar area, answer clear questions, and give or seek personal opinions in an informal discussion
D Be able to use the target language to write short, comprehensible connected texts on familiar subjects
Method of teaching and learning
Communicative language teaching involves a high level of interaction between teacher and students. Teaching and assessment will revolve around the setting and completion of specified language tasks.
This module includes 4 seminar hours for 12 weeks, plus 2 hours induction in week 1. Students will have 50 hours of self-study to support their learnings.
In order to submit their coursework tasks, the students must attend at least 8 weeks of seminars hours out of the 12 total weeks.
