Aims and Fit of Module

The module introduces students to concepts, knowledge, and practical skills pertaining to the grammar of visual storytelling. Using stills photography the module examines how pictures convey meaning, and how the components of still image practices operate in the creation and combination of story and visualisation. Digital Photography techniques will be examined and the components of framing, composition, colour, space and depth explored both through practical workshops and written analysis. Students will engage in the creation of practical project work which will require them to draw on the knowledge, skills and understanding covered in the module.
