This module aims to introduce students to the global digital revolutions which have emerged in the past quarter of a century and continue to impact contemporary societies and the nature, impact and issues arising as they relate to contemporary Chinese society.
Learning outcomes 
A. Identify and interpret emerging digital technologies and their role in changing global industries and societies.

B. Categorize and critically evaluate the impact changing digital technologies have on media and telecommunications.

C. Appraise the specific effects relating to Chinese society brought about by the emergence of digital technologies.

D. Examine the critical issues affecting consumers, citizens and government brought about by digital technologies

The Syllabus will typically include topics such as:

• the emergence of digital technologies;

• the impact of digital technologies on information technology, communication and media industries;

• new and emerging digital technologies;

• China’s experience and the influence of the digital revolutions on social and economic reforms; the impact of the internet on government, people, society and culture;

• the impact and nature of mobile telecommunications in China.
