Aims and Fit of Module

•	To introduce students to pre-production processes in video production.
• To introduce students to production processes in video production.
• To introduce students to post-production processes in video production.
• To enable students to learn both technical skills and artistic expression and the needed to use audio and video equipment as well as software tools through hands-on practice.

Learning outcomes

A)	Understand key concepts in media production;
B) Develop key notions about the grammar of media production;
C) Use industry standard practices (e.g. pre-production, production, and post-production) in order to develop their own creative style by producing short projects;
D) Develop the ability to work in key set roles, both individually and in groups throughout the production process.

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are divided into lectures and practical sessions, including camera and sound recording as well as practical editing sessions.
A series of practical sessions explore the various production techniques and the use of equipment to teach skills in camera work, sound recording and editing. Typically, students work in independent small groups to develop and produce their media projects.
