Aims and Fit of Module

To facilitate an understanding of the structure and functioning of health systems, drawing on relevant interdisciplinary perspectives and providing tools by which to analyse health systems.

Learning outcomes

A	Discuss the concept of a ‘health system’, and its core objectives, elements and functions.
B Identify the sociopolitical factors influencing health systems.
C Compare the ability of different health care systems to promote and manage population health.
D Outline the ways in which health systems can be evaluated.
E Employ a health systems approach to examine major health challenges in a range of different health care contexts.
