Aims and Fit of Module

This module critically assesses the multilateral policies and state and international laws and treaties which directly or indirectly affect the health of populations We also examine the institutions that disseminate and affect these policies. Global and International Health Diplomacy will be examined as case study of global health governance.

Learning outcomes

A	Appraise how health governance occurs at the global level of analysis.
B Evaluate the role of various stakeholders in global health governance.
C Critically judge how global political economic processes require governance at the global level.
D Distinguish how health diplomacy in differing political economic ideologies have different intervention structures and outcomes.
E Formulate recommendations to improve health governance concerning a particular global health challenge.

Method of teaching and learning

Lecture and Discussion along with debate and simulated Global Health Governance meetings. Videos are included, as well as group projects.
