Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to:
• Engage with a range of theories of power and ideology in global education development.
• Develop students’ knowledge of how international, national and regional identities are constructed in discourse, and the impact this has on global education policy.
• Establish the role power has in discourse, and over discourse.

Learning outcomes

A.	Critically analyze the complexity of national and transnational identity constructions in a globalized world.
B. Demonstrate a critical understanding of how language helps shape decisions and decision-making.
C. Describe the purposes and uses of language assessment in globalization.
D. Reflect critically on the reasons for the development and uses of global languages.

Method of teaching and learning

The teaching sessions are interactive and divided into two components: lectures and tutorials/workshops. The tutorials/workshops will build on the material covered in the lectures.
