Aims and Fit of Module

To provide a comprehensive coverage and in-depth of the theory and design of digital communication systems at an level expressly for the fourth year undergraduate students.

Learning outcomes

A. Understand sources, effects and solutions for channel degradation, especially AWGN.
B. Understand digital baseband transmission and reception techniques.
C. Understand digital modulation and demodulation techniques.
D. Analyze signals of communication systems using math tools of probabilities and random process.
E. Analyze error probability of optimum receiver of a digital system.

Method of teaching and learning

This module will be delivered by a combination of formal lectures, problem classes, class demonstrations, and case studies.
