Aims and Fit of Module

This course aims to gain knowledge and hand-on experiences in digital media systems and security applications; it also aims to introduce important multimedia security technologies and standards in assuring the rights of owners and consumers of multimedia systems; these include encryption, key management, watermarking, and media authentication; it also aims to introduce important topics on using multimedia information for security objectives, including video surveillance, and media sensor networks.

Learning outcomes

A. Gain knowledge and hands-on experience about multimedia systems and security technologies.
B. Gain knowledge with multimedia compression technologies and standards.
C. Survey algorithms, theories and tools developed in research and market of multimedia security issues, including digital rights management, copyright protection, and authenticity verification
D. Learn theories, research issues and recent developments of multimedia-based security systems such as video surveillance and biometric applications.
