Aims and Fit of Module

The main aims of the module are to: 
• Apply some of the main research, theorizing and practice involved in the evaluation and design of curricula for English language education
• Engage in some of the main levels of activity involved in curriculum design, i.e., needs analysis, situation analysis, course design, material design, syllabus design and materials evaluation and adaptation
• Master relevant academic concepts for each of these areas studied
• Raise awareness of factors that are crucial to effective teaching and research
• Apprentice the students in to the community of rigorous academic writing practice.

Learning outcomes

A	Competently apply the main research, theory and practice involved in the EFL/ESL pedagogy

B Engage in the main levels of activity involved in curriculum design, i.e., needs analysis, situation analysis, course design, material design, syllabus design and materials evaluation and adaptation

C Demonstrate mastery of relevant academic concepts for these areas;

D Demonstrate awareness of the key factors that are crucial to effective teaching;

E Provide evidence of rigorous academic writing practice.
