The aim of this module is to provide students with a basic introduction to statistics. Students use modern software and will gain statistical skills that are fundamental for investigations in a range of issues relevant to the life sciences. The module covers classical statistical theories and practices via analysis and visualization of real life-science data.

The module is delivered through a series of lectures and practices. The lectures provide statistical theories and case studies in the life sciences. The practices use problem-oriented exercises, group work on case studies, discussions, and presentations. Students apply the knowledge learnt in the lectures and practices to the assignments and staff provides feedback to improve students understanding and applications of statistical theories in life sciences.
