Aims and Fit of Module
The aim of this elective ‘Taster’ module delivered in the first semester of Year 1 is to enable students to engage with the subject matter of the programmes offered by the School of Film and Television Arts and to stimulate their interest in expressing themselves creatively . It will help students to understand that creativity is a ‘learned process’ that they can carry forward in everything they do.
The module also contributes to developing the English language and study skills of students within the context of the programmes offered by the School.

Method of teaching and learning
The module is delivered through six two-hour long sessions, taught by subject specialists in each of the programmes offered by the School of Film and Television Arts.
Each session will be a mix of formal lecture, screenings and creative activity where students are encouraged to explore specific topics/ specific ideas within Film and Television Arts.
Students may also be provided with online language and study skills support from the English Language Centre (ELC) to help them engage with module content. Some sessions may be co-delivered with ELC tutors, with the aim of assisting students with the language and study skills requirements of the module.
