Aims and Fit of Module

This module aims to provide students with a rich theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of management, strategy and leadership, particularly as these concepts apply to the evolving business environment of China.  Starting with the fundamentals of self-development and people management, this module goes on to teach students about team building, communication, incentive structures, business strategy, operations management, leadership, corporate governance, marketing management and crisis management, and the principles that underpin the successful implementation of these key managerial functions. Through in-company experiential learning, students will appreciate how management theories and techniques, as well as leadership skills, can be applied to solve real-world business problems and drive corporate development and success.

Learning outcomes

A	Discuss managerial, leadership and cognitive skills relevant to the workplace in China.
B Recognise the important role of effective working relations and how good teamwork dynamics can develop and maintain working relationships.
C Discover effective interpersonal and communication skills as they apply to business settings.
D Develop capabilities in self-management and self-reflection.
E Evaluate, in both theoretical and practical terms, the key functions that constitute the management process and how the management of these functions contribute to enhancing organisational performance.
