Aims and Fit of Module

The aim of this module is to give students a better insight in creative processes for design. Students will be introduced to theoretical notions about creativity and will explore these in several exercises. Widening their skills in these area’s will give students a better way of dealing with design problems that have a more ambiguous nature, and help them to develop a more individual approach towards design. As such it also helps to prepare students for their Final Year Project.

B. Select and improve upon creative ideas in structured and intuitive ways
C. Develop sketches, visualizations, or models as part of a design process
D. Describe, present and evaluate creative processes
E. Structure a design problem as an technical or physical contradiction

Method of teaching and learning

The module is delivered in a seminar/tutorial style with design studio characteristics. It involves individual and teamwork (if student numbers permit).
